  • 125×125 Ads gadget
  • 2 sidebar section

You can observe the demo and download the Milano Blogger template.

Setup the title logo

Open the ‘logo’ file with image editing software like Photoshop, then edit the text with your own preferred title and save it as ‘logo1.png’. Access into image hosting site like Photobucket and upload your ‘logo1.png’ picture, then access into blog’s layout and under the ‘Edit HTML’ mode, press [CTRL+F3] to find the ‘IMAGE-LINK-HERE/logo1.png’ and replace the ‘IMAGE-LINK-HERE’ with your hosted image link.

Set up the Top Navigation Menu

You can customize your header navigation link to your own preferred link. To achieve this, access into ‘Layout’ and under the ‘Page Element’ section, click on the ‘Edit’ of the ‘Top Navigation Menu’ and configure the Link Gadget setup.

Set up the Featured Content Scroller

Milano has a featured content scroller at the right of the Welcome Message section, which you can access into the space through the ‘Page Element’ section. Simply copy the code below, then access into ‘Layout’ and under the ‘Page Element’, click on the ‘Edit’ of the ‘Featured Content Scroller’, paste and edit the code with the corresponding item.

If you want to have more than 1 Featured Content slide, you can copy, paste and edit the code above again in the same HTML/ JavaScript gadget.

Set up the Second Navigation Menu

You can customize your header navigation link to your own preferred link. To achieve this, access into ‘Layout’ and under the ‘Page Element’ section, click on the ‘Edit’ of the ‘Second Navigation Menu’ and configure the Link Gadget setup.

Hide article’s content on the main page

As this template got ‘Read More’ function, you probably want to hide some text from being displayed on the main page. In fact, you just need some extremely easy step to achieve this. Simply copy the highlighted code below, then access into ‘Settings’ and under the ‘Formatting’ tab, paste the code into the ‘Post Template’.

<span class=”fullpost”></span>

On the next time you write an article, you just need to add this line of code to hide the text. For example,

<span class=”fullpost”>Here are the texts you want to hide</span>

Set up the JavaScript-based Tabber

You can probably notice that there’s got a dynamic tabber with 3 gadget inside on the sidebar. By clicking the ‘Video’, you can actually set up the ‘Video’ part of the tabber with any gadget, same as clicking ‘Recent’ and ‘Popular’, which directs you to the setting of second and third part of the tabber.

To set up the Video section, you can put favorite Youtube video inside the section by just few simple steps. You can just copy the video’s embed code link, then access into ‘Layout’ and under the ‘Page Element’ tab, click on the ‘Edit’ of the ‘Featured Video’, paste the code then ‘Save’ to show the video!

Your Youtube video’s embed code link is located below the profile of the video uploader, and you can adjust the (embed)’s width and height inside the code to fix the section size. The recommended width and height for the video is 310 and 255.

To set up the ‘Recent’ section, you can put your Feed gadget together with your blog’s feed into the section.

And may I say that your new site’s theme is also rockin’!

  4. maboroshine says:

wow, this new site is more awesome, it will be cool a template like your new one in blogger though

  5. maboroshine says:

    i have a request too.
this is a very nice template to convert

    http://www.blogohblog.com/wordpress-theme-digital-statement/

but it will be good to eliminmate the gray margins, and make it more like a 1000px width blogger , also eliminate that ( Home ) space on the top, cause isnt useful in blogger.

seriously that tempalte is awesome. and the autoreadmore and the autothumbnail will be a great feature

  6. Nice! This would keep me busy. LOL!

  9. Tips nd Tricks says:

guys i really see that you need to think out the box, this is beautiful them of course but it is just looks like your all previous designs, maybe just another color and block places different
you can design beautiful templates, so just don’t waste your time on the same one
    Be Creative!!

    • Alvaris Falcon says:

Several thanks for your suggestion, it’s really useful for web designer to improve theme design!

We would work our best to improve design and coding, thank you! :)

  10. Sometimes you’ll get a feeling who made the templates. I has some kind of trademark look and feel in it. All the templates acts different. It just looks the same, well different color, different block places, just like tips nd tricks mentioned.

But usually other bloggers doesn’t like the design of the template just because of the color and the arrangements. So it’s still good to have another options from the creators.

Let us say that this blog “Milano” looked like the “Zinmag Tribe”. What if the Primus template doesn’t fit well with the blog topic that I have lets say hmm “American Idol” (lol!) because of its old news paper look. So other bloggers that still doesn’t know how to create their own templates needs other options to fit their blog topics.

    • Alvaris Falcon says:

Wow, I really enjoyed reading your comment again and again, you got a great point!

I believe that Jinsona has his purpose in mind, but I’m sure that your thought is probably same with him.

Thanks for the great tips! ;)

This is a great template. I’m new to blogging and trying to set one up for my department (I’m a college professor). Installing it was quite easy, which is good for a newbie such as myself. One question about the template, however. With the “Featured Content Scroller,” what is the optimal size for the images? Every pic I try is too big or too little. Thnx!

    • Alvaris Falcon says:

Thanks for your precious comment, I’m glad that you like this template!

Sure, you can post 2 or more of your Youtube video’s code into the video tab, ‘Save’ to achieve many videos in video tab.

Hope this helps, all the best!

  36. Amy says:

I tried posting this several weeks ago, but I don’t see it in this list of comments/questions. Is there a way to make the “Search by Tags/Labels” feature into a two column list rather than a one column list? Because this blog is used for academic advising and I make *many* posts, there are a lot of tags/labels in the list. It’s getting quite long and awkward to use. If it could be 2 – 3 columns, then it would take up less vertical space. Thanks. Blog is http://www.georgiatechhts.blogspot.com.

    • Hive commentator says:

Thanks for your comment. I want to tell you that we do not handle personal customization requests. But still i can give you a advice. You can use a label cloud widget this will save your blog’s precious space.

      All the best.

      • Amy says:

Thanks very much. I use a tag cloud on my own blog, but was trying to preserve the list with this one. I’ll figure it out! Any updated information on getting that “Read More” tab to work? I still can’t get mine working….

  37. rick says:

What’s up with the scrip and all of that in the footer?
    I can decoded it?

  41. Adam says:

Hello I am trying to use the original milano instead of clean milano

I ran into a problem concerning the “featured content scroller”

    1. I am not able to see any “featured content scroller” when I view my “Page Elements”

    2. What is the code to get the scroller working? Is it the same as the clean milano one? (the code is not stated above)

  42. Adam says:

Sorry to double post but I would like to add that I am not seeing the “featured content” in page elements on my “real blog”

I made a “test” blog and installed the same template (this one) and I see the featured content in page elements

So I went to my first blog and erased and installed another template (to make sure its not a script problem), and installed milano again. And like before I still can’t see it in page elements, I didn’t even played with the html codes yet.

Lastly, I would like to say this is an awesome template I would really love to use it. Please help. Thanks alot :D

  43. Hive Commentator says:

We are sorry for the trouble adam. But you can copy the code from clean Milano, if you want to do so.

    Best of luck..

  44. Tonio says:

My featured content scroller is not working either. It’s not even visible on ‘Page Elements’. I’ve have the blog for a few months now and it was working fine. So not sure what the problem is. Can you help?

  48. Hi Falcon,

as everyone else here aleready said this is an amazing job and a beutiful design. Still, I’m having trouble with featured content scroller. The guide says:
“Milano has a featured content scroller at the right of the Welcome Message section, which you can access into the space through the ‘Page Element’ section. Simply copy the code below”

    So, where’s the code?

    Thanks for your help.

  49. jijiey says:

Hi Falcon, I wanna ask you how to setup that feature content?
On my blog, it become blank on that box and don’t have “Feature content scroller” on page element,,why?

    • Hive Commentator says:

It seems that you have not added the javascript links to the blog template at all. PLease check and tell me.

      Waiting for your reply.

  50. mess says:

It seems the creator has done a good job in terms of creating this template. But it has a really messy documention.

  51. Kyriakos says:

If you want to add more than 1 post in the slider, copy, paste and edit the code above again below the first link.

    Source: bloggerblogtemplates.com/2009/05/milano-blogger-template.html

  52. Azue says:

can i change the word ‘WELCOME’ to other words?

  53. Chelsea Bass says:

I really love this template, BUT I’m having multiple issues.

The first is with the featured content scroller. The directions say, “Simply copy the code below, then access into ‘Layout’ and under the ‘Page Element’, click on the ‘Edit’ of the ‘Featured Content Scroller’, paste and edit the code with the corresponding item.

If you want to have more than 1 Featured Content slide, you can copy, paste and edit the code above again in the same HTML/ JavaScript gadget.”

Exactly what “code below” is it referring to? I have inserted the java URLs from FileAve into the HTML. What next?

I’m also having problems with the date. It doesn’t show up at all.

Additionally, I can’t get the Recent or Popular tabs to work after following the above instructions.

Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated!

  54. ~Romil says:

Hi, this originally is a great template and good conversion job as well.

Had some issues though, still wondering if the “Read More” issue is fixed? A lot of people asked, would appreciate if there is a solution to it.

    Thanks.

  55. Emajanti says:

Thank you for the great template. I love it! Please … I need help on the TABBER. The VIDEO worked well, but the RECENT and POPULAR, didn’t.

    How to link/edit the RECENT?

And, if I want to change POPULAR into something like LINKS (consist of few fave links that I like), is that possible? how to do that?

Thanks soo much for your help.

  56. umit says:

    hi!
i need to add a widget to the footer but i can not find the
    tag on my Milano template.

Yes, i clicked the “Expand Widget Templates” section, but still there is not anything like that. I have also tried to copy/paste it to a text editor and searched there again.

It would be wonderful if you can help me find the section.

I need to add the sharebuttons. (addthis.com/help/blogger#blogpost)

    Thanks in advance!
    Sincerely

  57. william says:

    Hiya,

I was wondering if you could help our non-profit with a tip of how to integrate into the Milano template Google custom search code? – we want your lovely template to search across the various blogs we’ve weaved together to make it look like a website. It’s tough knowing where to put the bits of code. I’ve tweaked HTML and fiddled with CSS before. If you could help that would be wonderul. Thanks ;-)

  58. Amy says:

Is there any way to have the comments inline on the page–in other words, the comments would appear directly below the post, as opposed to on a separate page that blog readers need to link to by clicking on the comments button?

  59. Amy says:

An addendum to my previous post. I use draft blogger and I’ve been following the directions found here: http://www.bloggerbuster.com/2008/06/how-to-add-comment-form-beneath-your.html. Because I couldn’t find the code for the first method, I’ve tried the second method (with the code ) with no success.

  60. Sigh3d says:

    I really like this theme,
but after I upload it onto my blog and go to page elements, I cant find the featured content widget, it worked on the clean version, but it doesn’t seem to exist in this one. Any Help?

  61. virgin says:

the same garbage, no slider on the page elements template shit

  62. Antonietta says:

Yes, muyfeatured content widget does not appear either… :(

  63. Amy says:

I have been having a problem with my Featured Content Scroller. It was on my Page Elements tab and functioning for a year and a half, but it has since disappeared on both blogger and draft blogger. If this problem is not resolved soon, I will have to find another template to use as the posts I make are time sensitive.

    • Amy says:

Hellloooooo? Still no response on why the editor for the slider disappeared from the “Page Elements” page in Blogger. This seems to be a problem that a variety of people are experiencing, as opposed to just me not knowing what I’m doing. I appreciate that you create nice, free designs, but if you aren’t going to do any follow up with problems, then that makes using them very frustrating!!! I have ads in my slider that have deadlines in August, but I can get them down or post any new ones. Seriously Falcon Hive folks, can you please let us know what’s going on???

  64. Edvando Junior says:

    Hi Falcon!

And It´s possible to enlarge header and footer equals that template test: http://edvandojr.blogspot.com/

Let’s talk via email, send me! Thanks

  65. conix05 says:

    1. Go to Edit HTML > Press F3
    2. search for
    3. Place the following code under “”

    Good Luck ^^

  66. conix05 says:

    search for div id=’slider’

then replace code which creator show us in his guide.

  67. Sebastian says:

For those of you having trouble viewing the “Featured Content” Slider widget in your “Page Elements” page, it’s probably because the slider’s visibility is set to hidden.

To fix it, go to the design tab and edit HTML. Find the section in the code that looks like this:

    #slider{
    width:520px;
    height:240px;
    padding:0px 0px;
    margin:10px 10px;
    visibility: hidden;
    background:#fff;
    }

Now, either delete or comment out the line that says “visibility: hidden;”… after you save you should be able to go back into “Page Elements” and see/edit the widget.

    Hope that helps.
