A successful conversion
I’m excited with the successful conversion of this Blogger template, which marks the improvement of my conversion skill, and this is all for your enjoyment. I hope to convert more beautiful Wordpress theme to Blogger template, and if you like, please drop a comment or suggestion to cheer me up, thanks!
I’m sorry, I know nothing about HTML work… but I’ve downloaded this template and everything is ok except the fact that… I can’t switch pages on my website :x I have 5 messages per page and I created at least two pages. I haven’t got any button at the bottom of my first page so I really can’t go to page 2. Please help me :)
Dear Cyza:
Thanks for your notice! It’s actually my error during conversion.
I have updated this article with the manual on how to add Newer/ Older Post link at the bottom of the template, enjoy ;)
Thank you for having updated your post. I tried to change my HTML code and add the little part in yellow, and I saved my template. But nothing appears. I just wanted a little button at the bottom of the page, which would be named “Next page/Previous page”. Can it be possible ?
Thanks
Dear Cyza:
It's possible to make things you mentioned happen :)
I have tested with my template and it works very well.
http://hive-greenlight-demo.blogspot.com/
Can I take a look on your blog? It also might be the problem of 'Show () posts' in the 'Settings> Formatting' section.
Thanks :)
Dear Cyza:
I have updated the article and please try again with the new method.
Hope this helps, thank you ;)
It worked perfectly. Thank you very much for your efforts.
I just tried out this template and I’m diggin it. Great work. The only problem I’ve had is that I can’t get the quick edit icon to show up when I’m logged in. I may be missing something cause I’m no html expert.
Dear Cyza:
You are welcome, thanks for your notice and patience :)
Dear Jerris:
Hi Jerris, nice to meet you! Sorry to reply late as I got sick on yesterday ;)
Did you mean the quickedit icon under every gadget? I did test the template with 3 different blogs and it works very well. You can try to logout and login to account again to see whether it’s work or not.
I’m also not an expert, we are all learning. Thanks for your comment and hope this helps. :)
alvaris,
thank you for this template, i really enjoy it! i have two questions though: even though i have changed the settings, the date does not show up on my posts. and also, i would like to change the color and font of my heading but cannot do so in the layout section. can you help me with this? thank you!!
Hi Alvaris!
Can you help me?
I post in my blod this template, but I wanna hide the header and comments. I tried to do everything I could but…
Thanx…
My blog is decobrito.blogspot.com
Hi Wynsters the tigress:
Thanks for your words and praise!
About the date, you have to change ‘Timestamp Format’ to get it displayed.
To change the header’s font and color, find the codes below under ‘Edit HTML’ tab:
#blogtitle a, #blogtitle a:hover {font-family: Arial,Verdana; color:#ffffff; text-decoration:none;}
You can change the font by replacing the ‘Arial, Verdana’.
Also, you can change the color by replacing the ‘#ffffff’ value.
If you need colors’ code, you can download Color Picker from http://www.box.net/shared/tbh5zen0b1
Hope this helps and enjoy! ;)
Hi Deco Brito:
I’m always excited to help :D
Did you mean to hide the ‘comment icon’ under every post or just hide the ‘Post comment’ link?
About the header, it’s little tricky that I need a lengthy explanation. Can you give me your email address so I can explain to you in complete tutorial?
Thanks for your comment. ;)
Hi Alvaris!!!
I thank you for your support!
My e-mail is blog@andersonbrito.net
Sorry for my horrible english…
I’d just like to hide the header/comment…
A hug,
Anderson
Dear Deco Brito:
Thanks for your comments, sent the mail to you and hope that helps. :)
I have this situation:
I have changed my blog layout to the green light you provide but know I cannot log in or log out, have access to the dashboard or alter anything…I can’t even post!
What can I do?
Hi Filipa, nice to meet you!
I thought normally upload template would not related to your account’s function, including log in/log out or post function.
I suggest you to clear all the browsing history including temporary files, history and cookies then try to log in again.
If the problem is still there, it might be the browser’s problem now.
Thanks for your question and hope this helps. ;)
Hey, downloaded this and it looks great, but I noticed there aren’t places to plug all the pictures into in the xml…can’t find use for “admin,” “spacer” and “arrow”. Am I missing something or aren’t they all used?
Hi hrafnkell!
Thanks for your question! Those images are actually for the Blogger who might want to do blog customization.
So please don’t worry about you are missing something, in fact you discovered something. ;)
Thanks, Alvaris! I got it installed last night and replaced move of my widgets and it looks great. I love it. Finally I have a blog I don’t mind looking at (and I’ve been at this since ‘05).
I do have another question now that it’s all installed. I notice I don’t have the links at the top of the screen that allowed me to make a new post, etc., and that the “Edit” link does nothing. Is there a way to fix this? Making a new post is suddenly a lot less convenient.
Hi Hrafnkell!
Thanks for your words again!
You can actually do this by make some customization on template’s code, can you give me your email so I can send the tutorial to you? ;)
Alvaris, thanks again for your quick response. I didn’t want to mess with it myself. I’m emailing you my address right now.
Hi Hrafnkell!
Thanks for your kind response, I have sent the tutorial to your email, hope that helps and enjoy blogging! ;D
Thank you, Alvaris! I’ve recommended Falcon Hive to everyone who visits my blog. Hopefully, you’ll have a few more visitors!
Hi Hrafnkell!
Wow thanks for your words and promotion!
I really appreciate your support and enjoy our interaction as well. ;)
Thanks so much for this template! It’s rather beautiful, and I’d love to use it, but I can’t figure out where to add my links in the sidebar. I’d like there to be a list above the archive, but I’m css-challenged and so have no idea where things go. Help?
Hi Natalie!
I’m glad that you loves this template!
I have checked your blog and saw that there are some links above your archive, seems your problem has been solved, right?
Thanks for your words and feel free to ask question. ;)
Is it possible to get rid of the “Author:” part that goes on each post… my blog is self titled – so it’s pretty obvious. I just cant figure out how to get it off!
Hi Erika Jean!
It is possible to get rid of the ‘Author:’ part. Simply download text file from the link below to achieve your will.

Hope this helps and enjoy blogging ya! ;)
Greetings,
I’m using the new blog template, and my limited skills in HTML / XML is proving quite helpful in playing around with it.
Thank you for the blog template.
Alvaris. I can’t find it… and I’m 99% sure I’m executing the search correctly…. :(
Hi Erika Jean!
Oops, sorry that I forgot to tell you one more step.
Please access into ‘Layout’ and under the ‘Edit HTML’ tab, check the ‘Expand Widget Templates’, then you can find the code mentioned before!
Hope this helps and enjoy blogging ya! ;)
Hi Dav!
Thanks for your words!
I’m glad to hear that you’re using this template, enjoy blogging ya! :D
Hi Alvaris, your template is great, last week i downloaded the template from http://btemplates.com, but i did notice that has some problems, and today i download the template from your link, but i can´t configure the images, so i copy part of the new template code and i replace it on the old template, and it works well, i hope that this don´t upset you, if you want i can send you the new green-light.xml.

Hi RoOts!
Thanks for your lovely comment, we appreciated it so much!
I have also received a ‘lovely complaint’ which talks about this from other user, we would publish a hosted version for the next template, thanks for your kind contribution anyway!
I thought your english is great enough to produce a formal article. :)
Thanks again and enjoy blogging ya! :D
great Work
plz can u help me to modify the code that make me nagvigate between pages ..
thanks
since i’m pretty clever and nerdy, i succeeded to install green light and modify it perfectly for my needs.
a great template, kudos to you!
Hi, first big-big thanks for this template, I love it!
But I have a problem – how can I add Date to the posts? I can’t figure out how to change Timestamp format (as you suggested in one comment). I’ve searched through html layout, tried changing some lines but nothing, no date for posts. I know a little about html etc but I can’t figure out what line I’m missing to make the date appear.
If possible, please help!
Damn, never mind, already found it :) I thought it was in html but it was under Settings.
Me again :)
A little notice for those who want Date to be shown not with every post but only once for entire day. I don't know if code can be posted in comment but I'll give it a try.
You have to edit html for it:
First add this (you can change font and color if you want) right under .date part in the first part of the html:
h2.date-header {
margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px;
padding: 0px 0px 7px 0px;
text-align: left;
color: #c5bDb3;
font: normal normal 100% Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, Sans-Serif;
text-decoration: none;
text-transform: uppercase;
}
Then add this right under "< b:includable id='post' var='post'>" line:
< b:if cond='data:post.dateHeader'>
< h2 class='date-header'>< data:post.dateHeader />< /h2>
< /b:if>
(And delete spaces after every < , I had to add them so the comment could be posted)
Hope this helps :) The example can be seen in my blog: mutimoti.blogspot.com.
The bad thing is that I just discovered that I have managed to download version 1.03 of this template. And since I've made so many changes to it I just won't do it all again. Now I have to do some manual copy-paste :S
sir
you have been helping all of the world
so i thought if i could help you
i have modified this template with all the images in it and it is avilable to download at http://www.box.net/shared/5rq3i7xkg5
i know that it is a very little job to do but i hope you will be benifited from it.
OM Gosh, I did something, or did not do something. Everything downloaded fine, I thought. I put the things into Photo bucket and did the links in the areas specified. I previewed it right before I put the spacer link up and it looked good, but with the info in the second column. So I saved it and then added the spacer. I received a message that it could not preview because of something not being closed. Separately, my internet explorer locked up and shut down. Now I am locked out of my dashboard so I can not fix anything… HELP
By the way, if you can help better by seeing for yourself, here is my blogspot: http://sagemd.blogspot.com
Thanks
Hello Falcon,
I’ve been using this greenlight template of yours for such quite a long time already and I’m satisfied with it. Yeah, I do like it!
But sometimes there’s this problem which keep bugging me; the background (the white background) won’t appear and everything is grey. Well, it’s very disappointing because even after I refresh the page, it appeared the same. It would be a very great pleasure if you could just tell me what’s wrong with it so i could fix it on my own the next time it happen again.
My guess is that, someone hack it and did something with the template. Or could it be some virus? I don’t know, I’m not good with html and stuff. Because other people’s blog are okay. So, if you could just take a look, I would appreciate it very much. Please, I miss my old blog, huhu…
Thank you very much, falcon!!
Nice to meet you, thanks for your kind and detailed comments, I’m glad that you love Green Light! :D
Sure, can I have your blog address that faces background issue to understand and check the issue further? Thank you!
You are welcome, please be sure to keep in touch ya! :)
Heya,
Thanks a lot for the template, it’s the one I’ve been using on Blogger.
I got a domain name today and was thinking about switching to WordPress.
You mention a couple of time that you actually transfered the template from WP to Blogger… but I can’t seem to find it on WordPress.org
You mind sending me a link to the actual ‘original’?
Would really appreciate it.
Cheers,
Tarko
Sure, Green Light Blogger template is actually come from its Wordpress version, which is in the following URL:
http://www.templatelite.com/green-light-free-wordpress-theme/
Enjoy blogging with Wordpress! ;)
I really like this blog template and I am looking forward to getting it working for my real blog, but first I need some help with some issues.
Issue #1:
Could you hook me up with that tutorial you mentioned earlier in the comment thread on how to add links at the top for new blogger post, sign in , sign out, etc?
Issue #2:
I tried to follow Mutt’s code for making the post date appear only once every day, but the second bit of code caused errors in Blogger’s parsing, I made sure to close the spaces after the < signs, so I’m not sure why it didn’t like it. Any help or clarification on this issue would be appreciated.
Issue #3:
While I really like the template, I notice that when the browser window is larger than the blog area, there is a dark gray vertical strip on both sides. Is there some way to achieve something green there instead, to be more consistent with the green blog theme? If this is not possible, is it possible to make the template layout stretch or shrink according to the size of the browser window?
I was able to take care of other issues simply by following directions on the comment thread. I hope you can help me with these additional issues.
Hi Michaela, thanks for words.
I just visited your blog. It seems you have solved the 1st two issues your self. Congrats.
But, when it comes to stretching the blogger template, it is not possible in this case.
Hope this answers your query.
All the best.
Hi,
I downloaded the template, and i hav uploaded it too.
And I have uploaded the images in photobucket, but the problem is I hav the direct link for all the images separately.
What should I do now??
Just place those urls in the template code. Search for the appropriate image and replace it with your url.
